The seat of the Serbian Orthodox Patriarchate until 1776, the church of the Holy Apostles has the oldest frescoes with the Pec complex. The oldest of the paintings - including the Christ in the cupola - date from the mid-13th century. Though not the finest of the frescoes of the Serbian school, they are fresh and expressive.
